Uke can do it!
In music this term students have the opportunity to learn how to play the ukulele.
Students start the lesson by being introduced to an area of musical theory, before a practical music session using the instruments. Finally, the students perform to the class and are given feedback on their progress.
Learning a musical instrument takes resilience, concentration and patience and Deneview students are showing they have these skills in abundance - impressing staff with their very positive attitude to lessons and the kindness and encouragement shown to each other.
Students are learning to read both musical notation and tablature in order to play songs on the ukulele whilst also being encouraged to experiment with the ukulele to try and play tunes by ear.
Due to the many different learning styles of the children we are using a range of teaching methods to learn how to play the ukulele. Lessons use a mix of YouTube videos, music books and through 1:1 and group tutorials.
We hope to continue to grow in confidence and expand our music repertoire in order to perform at our Christmas celebration.
