Macmillian Coffee Morning Success.

On Thursday 29th September, Deneview took part in the world’s biggest coffee morning to help raise funds for Macmillan. Macmillan are a charity for cancer patients and their families. They do a great job at providing care and support.

Sophie and Elizabeth had been planning the event for months to make sure the event was as successful as it could be.
The donations from parents and carers was astounding. We rearranged the raffle to make sure all of our generous donations were included and even had more than enough for a tombola. Sophie roped in Group 7 to help get the event up and running. After delegating students and giving out tasks, Group 7 went to work. Kris and Daniel ran the tombola, despite having never heard of one or knowing how it works, they both done an outstanding job and the prizes were all won, well before the event had finished!

All visitors were greeted with a welcoming smile from our 2 helpers. We had such a good turnout, the students done an amazing job of signing everyone in and making sure all of our visitors had a badge –Lynn had trained them well.
Ali, as always, made sure that our visitors had a warm drink to accompany the gorgeous cakes that we had on offer.
Everyone was blown away by the amount of cake that we had. All very nicely presented and decorated, despite Mr Flint dropping a cake in transit, Jeff was really good at disguising it through his great cutting skills.

As the morning went on – visitors chatted, bought raffle tickets, guessed the name of the cheetah and had a go on the tombola. The name of the cheetah was Coco and this was won by Miss Martin. 647 skittles were in the jar and the closest guess was 650 from Tony’s Mam.
We sent cakes over to Oakfield for the staff to enjoy and received some great donations towards Macmillan from our Central Administration staff.
Sophie and Group 5 made shapes with pennies that people had donated, before trying to make a a tall tower. We didn’t get very far as we learnt 2ps were not made for stacking!

All in all it was a great day – so far we have raised £540.50! A big big thank you to all the parents and carers who came and supported us through their donations, buying of raffle tickets and cakes – it is very much appreciated!
