One of the topics we have been investigating this term at Trinity Oakfield are acids and alkalis and what types of indicators can be used for identification purposes.

A fun thing to do is to make your own indicator using red cabbage or red onion, being careful to heat it up safely, using the Bunsen burner and a large beaker.

The students from Grey group enjoyed this activity, learning to work scientifically and knowing how to reduce the risk.

I wonder if some other types of vegetation would make a good indicator.
