Trinity Academy Newcastle Multi Academy Trust recognises the moral and statutory responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of all our pupils.
We will endeavour to provide a safe and welcoming environment where children and young people are respected and valued. We will be alert to the signs of abuse and maltreatment and will follow our procedures to ensure that learners receive effective support, protection and justice.
The procedures contained in our policy apply to all staff and governors and are consistent with those of the Newcastle Safeguarding Children Partnership.

We work closely with other organisations using multi-agency policies and procedures, to protect and prevent abuse of adults at risk.
The procedure contained in our policy applies to all staff and governors and are consistent with those of the Newcastle adult safeguarding board.
Operation Encompass is a unique Police and Education early intervention safeguarding partnership which supports children and young people exposed to domestic abuse.
Operation Encompass is the reporting to schools before the start of the next school day when a child or young person has been involved or exposed to a domestic abuse incident the previous evening. The information is given in strict confidence to a school’s Key Adult to enable support to be given dependent on the needs and wishes of the child.
Operation Encompass is a Trauma-Informed and Trauma Sensitive charity. We acknowledge and understand the impact of Domestic Abuse as an Adverse Childhood Experience(ACE)
Operation Encompass mitigates against the damaged caused by exposure to Domestic Abuse and other ACE’s
Operation Next Steps
Trinity Academy has been given the opportunity to take part in a new Home Office approved project. It is being led by Northumbria Police and Crime Commissioner Dame Vera Baird and Northumbria Police in partnership with Barnardo’s and Operation Encompass. The project, named Operation Encompass the Next Steps, aims to form part of a wider strategy to break the cycle of Domestic Abuse through education and support.
The project will help all children in Northumbria to learn about friendships, relationships, emotions, and rules so that they can live and work together safely.
Our school will also benefit from having one of twelve School Safeguarding Liaison Officers who will:
