Trinity Academy will be offering a brand new qualification for young people aged 16-18, who are looking to begin a career as a teaching assistant or support staff within schools.View all courses
The course will be of special interest to those wanting to gain further experience supporting school sport and Physical Education. Learners will gain a level 2 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning within Schools. Where necessary, you will also have the opportunity to work toward level 2 Functional Skills or GCSE qualifications in Mathematics and English.
The majority of a learners time on programme will be spent on placement with Trinity Oakfield, Trinity Deneview or one of our local partner schools. Learners will work either three or four days within their placement school, providing the best opportunity to learn from education professionals. All learners will come together one day per week at Trinity Academy, to work toward the completion of coursework.
We have chosen to provide learners with additional support to develop their knowledge and experience of school sport and PE. This has been encouraged nationally with primary schools following the Olympic Legacy funding and remains one of the core curriculum areas within secondary education.
This programme offers an individualised curriculum designed to prepare you for the world of work. You will gain real experience and knowledge of working in the education sector, as well as improving skills such as: communication, working as part of a team and leadership.

GCSE English and Maths (on individual assessed need)
No formal entry requirements. Following an informal interview, your individual needs will be looked at to ensure you are enrolled on the most suitable programme.
The qualification is best suited to those wanting to work within schools as either a classroom teaching assistant or a member of the support team.
However other opportunities include work within childcare.
Adult education and special needs support.
