Course Description

Outstanding schools and good schools with aspirations to move to outstanding have effective distributed leadership at all levels; Headteachers to senior and middle leaders along with aspiring leaders and teachers.

Trinity has developed a behaviour leadership ethos and programmes designed to meet the needs of teachers and leaders at all levels. The programme has been developed and honed over years of experience working with the most challenging young people in an inner-city school, which has been graded by Ofsted as outstanding for behaviour and safety. The course focuses on practical and manageable techniques, which enable staff to develop into confident behaviour leaders; improving behaviour in and around the school along with positive outcomes for children and young people.

As well as having a relentless focus on teaching and learning in the classroom we believe leaders need to embrace the wider whole school challenges that school face.

Course Content

Module 1: The Effective behaviour leader

Module 2: Management and Teaching Styles

Module 3: Areas, definition & protocol of discipline

Module 4: The Pepsi Challenge

Module 5: Trinity top ten tips for effective behaviour leadership

Solution Focused Approach - is an approach based on solution building and replacing problem-solving. Rather than dwelling on an individual's weaknesses and limitations, Solution Focused therapy concentrates solely on an individual's strengths and possibilities to help them move forward positively.

Solution Orientated Skills - are the skills used to develop Solution Focused Approach in working with the learner to identify a positive solution to a current situation.

Restorative Approach - is an approach of building and maintain relationships which look to work with the learner and not the problem. It is a shift from tradition mind set for punishing behaviours (detention/exclusion) to a restorative mindset of support change in behaviour.

Scaling - Scaling questions are used with the learner to identify what a current situation feels like and then what needs to be altered/changed to move up the scale. This tends to involve using a scale from 1 to 10 in which number represents a rating of the problem.
