Course Description

There are no prerequisites for completing the CIEH Level 2 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work course, as the required knowledge and understanding of first aid are covered in training.

However, we recommend that candidates should have a minimum of Level 1 in literacy; or equivalent, to undertake this qualification.

This qualification is approved for delivery to candidates aged 16+.

Candidates must be physically able to carry out the procedures detailed in the unit of assessment and must participate in at least 80 percent of the training programmed to be eligible for assessment.

Learning Outcomes - Candidates will:

  • Understand the role and responsibilities of a first aider
  • Be able to assess an incident
  • Be able to manage an unresponsive casualty who is breathing normally
  • Be able to manage an unresponsive casualty who is not breathing normally
  • Be able to recognise and assist a casualty who is choking
  • Be able to manage a casualty with external bleeding
  • Be able to manage a casualty who is in shock
  • Be able to manage a casualty with a minor injury
